Welcome Celebration of the Word for Reception class with Y6 Prayer partners: Wednesday 8th October 2025

Today we were joined by our EYFS parents to welcome our new Reception children into the family of St Basil's!

It was wonderful to see our Year 6 children taking on the responsibility of being Prayer partners and offering their guidance and support.

Year 6 led our Celebration and lit candles for each of the children, also leading them in song and prayer.

This is what some of the Year 6 children said about it: 

"My favourite part was being responsible for the children." (Anais)

"I loved getting to sit with them and seeing their parents and lighting a candle for them." (Maisie-Rae)

"I believe this Celebration of the Word was a perfect way to introduce the school and prayer partners to EYFS parents!" (Sienna)

Mrs Sheppard then presented all of the children with a special book as a welcome gift from the school family.

Feedback from our parents was lovely to hear and we were delighted to share this occasion with all of those who were able to join us.
