Welcome to 6CH & 6KJ!

Happy New Year! We hope you had a lovely and restful Christmas.

This letter will inform you of all the relevant information for this upcoming term.

This term, we will be closely working with Mrs Roberts our year group teaching assistant, who supports the children in all aspects of their learning.

P.E

P.E will usually take place each Friday. However, can you ensure that your child has their P.E kit in school each day both indoor and outdoor kits. Please could this be in a small pump bag and with their name clearly marked on each item, which they leave in school. As we enter the summer term, Year 6 will have weekly swimming lessons every Wednesday.

Reading Books and Homework

Children will be required to bring into school their reading books each day and change them when needed. We encourage your child to spend a short time reading each day. As well as this, children must ensure that their revision books are in school each day as homework will now focus on maths, grammar and reading in order to ensure that your child is well prepared for their SATs in May

Homework will be given on various days:

  • Monday – Maths and reading to be returned to school on Thursday
  • Spellings will be given on a Monday and tested each Friday
  • Friday- grammar to be returned to school on Monday

Break and Lunch

Please can we remind you to provide your child with a water bottle each day. Also, toast and dinner money are to be given to the class teacher on a Monday in an envelope with your child’s name on it. If children bring in their own snack please ensure that it is a healthy choice.

Medication

If your child requires medication when in school (prescribed only) medication forms need to be completed at the school office – this includes the use of inhalers. Please make sure all inhalers are in date and have your child’s name on.

Trips

Later this half term, we will be visiting Robinwood. In the next week we will be sending letters regarding times for the trip, payments and a date for a parents meeting.

Expectations

Over this term we will be working hard to prepare your children for their SATs. Each Monday we will be holding booster classes from 3:10pm until 4:00pm. These additional sessions are invaluable and we strongly encourage each child to attend. We will focus on maths, grammar and reading. These sessions are always very effective and provide children with a focus on what to revise and how they can prepare for their SATs.

If you have any queries please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Kind regards,

Mr Hartley and Mrs Jones
