Welcome to 6CH & 6MB!
Dear Parents/ Carers
We hope you all had an enjoyable summer.
We are writing this letter to introduce ourselves as your child’s new teachers, Mr Hartley and Mrs Baynton. We are both looking forward to teaching the children this year and have lots of interesting and exciting things planned for the year. We would also like to inform you of all the relevant information for this upcoming term.
This term, we will be closely working with Mrs Roberts our year group teaching assistant, who supports the children in all aspects of their learning; Mrs O’Donnell, who will be working with groups of children to improve their maths skills; and Mrs Lindop, who will be working with groups of children to improve their reading skills.
P.E will usually take place each Wednesday and Friday. However, can you ensure that your child has their P.E kit in school each day both indoor and outdoor kits. Please could this be in a small pump bag and with their name clearly marked on each item, which they leave in school.
Children will be required to wear full school uniform every day in school. This includes black school shoes. Trainers are not part of the school uniform and we ask that children are not sent into school wearing trainers.
Reading Books and Homework
Children will be required to bring into school their reading books each day and change them when needed. We encourage your child to spend a short time reading each day as well as learning their spellings each day so that they are ready for the test each Friday. Please ensure that you sign your child’s reading record each time they read.
Homework will be given on various days:
Monday – Maths and English to be returned to school on Thursday
Spellings will be given on a Monday and tested each Friday
Friday- Grammar and Learning Challenge to be returned to school on Monday
Break and Lunch
Please can we remind you to provide your child with a water bottle each day. If children bring in their own snack please ensure that it is a healthy choice. Any lunch payments must be made using the online gateway. Please contact the school office if you have any questions regarding this.
If your child requires medication when in school (prescribed only) medication forms need to be completed at the school office – this includes the use of inhalers. Please make sure all inhalers are in date and have your child’s name on.
Later this term, we will be visiting Catalyst Science Museum as well as the synagogue. We will also have a residential trip to Robinwood this year. In the next week we will be sending letters regarding the trips, payments and dates.
If you have any queries please don’t hesitate to contact us.
