Welcome to 4KJ & 4CG!

Dear Parents/ Carers,

Welcome to a new school year! We hope you have had a lovely summer.

We are writing to introduce ourselves as your child’s Year 4 teachers: Mrs Jones and Mr Gallimore. We are really looking forward to teaching your child this year and we have worked hard planning lots of activities for your children to enjoy. This letter will inform you of all the relevant information for this upcoming school year.

This year, we will be closely working with Mrs O’ Donnell , who will provide additional teaching support, and Mrs Bond our year group teaching assistant, who support the children in all aspects of their learning.

P.E

P.E will usually take place each Monday (4KJ) Tuesday (4CG) . However, can you ensure that your child has their P.E kit in school each day: both indoor and outdoor kits. Please could this be in a small pump bag and with their name clearly marked on each item, which they leave in school. This term, Year 4 will have weekly swimming lessons every Wednesday we ask for a small contribution towards the cost of transport to and from Swimming which will be payable on the School Gateway.

Reading Books and Homework

Children will be required to bring into school their reading books each day and change them when needed. We will encourage your child to spend a short time reading each day.

Homework will be given on various days:

  • Monday - Maths and English to be returned to school on Thursday
  • Spellings will be given on a Monday and tested each Friday
  • Friday- Learning Challenge to be returned to school on Monday

Break

Please can we remind you to provide your child with a water bottle each day. Toast is no longer available at break time however children can bring in their own snack. If children bring in their own snack please ensure that it is a healthy choice.

Medication

If your child requires medication when in school (prescribed only) medication forms need to be completed at the school office – this includes the use of inhalers. Please make sure all inhalers are in date and have your child’s name on.

Trips

Next week Year 4 will be going to Burwardsley. I have attached a letter detailing the information. Please sign and return the permission slip as soon as possible.

Expectations

Over the first few days we will be working with the children on our class expectations based on our school Mission Statement and Behaviour Policy. We have also attached a curriculum overview with details of the topics we will be covering. This is an exciting new time and we hope your child is eager to learn, love and succeed during Year 4.

If you have any queries please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Kind regards,

Mrs Jones and Mr Gallimore
