Welcome to 3LE & 3RS!
Welcome back! We hope you have had a lovely Christmas break.
We are writing to inform you about all the exciting activities we have planned for this coming half term. We are really looking forward to continuing the excellent work we have been completing in Year 3.
PE sessions for Year 3 this half term will take place on a Tuesday (Outdoor) and Wednesday afternoons (Indoor when not Swimming). Please ensure that PE kits are brought into school as soon as possible so that your child is fully prepared for their PE session. Please continue to make sure that names are clearly marked on each item of their PE kit.
3LE will be Swimming on Wednesday afternoons for five weeks, starting from 10th January. Also, swimming kits need to be sent in on the day of swimming sessions. Your child will need a swimming costume (girls) or swimming shorts that are no longer than knee length (boys) and a towel. If your child needs to wear goggles, a written note of permission will need to be handed to your child’s teacher. Long hair will also need to be tied back for swimming sessions.
Reading books are monitored daily by both class teachers. It is the children’s responsibility to update their class reading log every morning to say whether they have read at home. We will continue to have a big push on regular reading as it is key to good progress. Therefore, it is vital that everyone brings their reading book in every day, regardless of whether the reading record has been signed.
In addition, we will be giving out a selection of homework to enhance learning. Maths and English will be set each week linking to current or previous units of work. As well as this, each week a spelling list will be given out which will include Year 3 expected words.
To continue to build on our immersive curriculum, cross-curricular homework will be sent home with a particular theme each half term. This half term, we will be looking at Climate and Forces, to coincide with our Learning Challenge and Science topics. Each weekend, your child will have an activity to complete which you can find on the list given in their homework books.

If your child requires any medication when in school (prescribed only), medication forms need to be completed at the school office – this includes the use of inhalers. Please make sure all inhalers are in date and have your child’s name on them.
