At St Basil’s we follow the National Curriculum for the teaching of science. We aim to make science enjoyable for the children and strive to include practical experience of science for pupils in all year groups. We always try to make links with other subjects such as maths and English in science lessons and this allows the children to master the skills they have learnt in these subject areas.
Children have the opportunity to learn about many different areas within science, these include: the body, plants, animals, materials, forces, electricity, light, evolution and many more. We encourage the children to improve their investigation skills and to raise their own questions about things that happen in the world of science.
We believe that it is important for children to have experience of using scientific equipment and for them to plan their own investigations and come to their own conclusions.
